Among Hindu women, the Tilhari holds deep cultural significance. Made of green pote (glass beads) with a golden pendant, it represents marital happiness and is a cherished symbol of good fortune. Similarly, mangalsutra, chura (bangles), and tilhari signify marriage and prosperity.
In the Newar community, jewellery is rich in symbolism and artistry. The Tayo stands as one of the most iconic ornaments — a large, golden, crescent-shaped necklace with a central pendant, worn by brides during weddings and by women during religious and cultural events like Mha Puja and Guthi ceremonies.
